Ask a Parent

“What is it like to be in a child-planning meeting as a parent?”

It is terrifying, and I am a professional! It is a completely unusual situation to have so many adults involved in the raising of your child, especially adults who were previously unknown to you. It is really important that parents know that they can choose who attends the meetings and that professionals will be not be offended if they are not invited! It is sometimes better to have a meeting with fewer people who are relevant at that particular stage. I have also always appreciated meetings that start with how we think our child is doing. Professionals should always remember that parents see all sides of their children and every day!
